OpenMonarch: Increasing Web Accessibility with a Chromium-Based Extension
OpenMonarch is a Chromium-based extension designed to address common accessibility issues encountered on the internet. Developed by akermanmilo, this extension follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set by the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative).
One of the key features of OpenMonarch is its implementation of a CLIP-based machine learning algorithm for image captioning. By using this algorithm, images can be captioned and made accessible to screen readers, benefiting blind or visually impaired individuals. Users can access this feature by selecting an image and pressing Ctrl + M or hovering over an image and pressing Ctrl + , (Comma).
With OpenMonarch, web accessibility is improved, allowing more individuals to have equal access to online content.
